Book Description:

Benson Fisher thought that a scholarship to Maxfield Academy would be the ticket out of his dead-end life.
He was wrong.
Now he’s trapped in a school that’s surrounded by a razor-wire fence. A school where video cameras monitor his every move. Where there are no adults. Where the kids have split into groups in order to survive.
Where breaking the rules equals death.
But when Benson stumbles upon the school’s real secret, he realizes that playing by the rules could spell a fate worse than death, and that escape—his only real hope for survival—may be impossible.

Leviathan Series #3
I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy of Goliath by Scott Westerfeld.
Goliath will take us back to the ship Leviathan for the conclusion of an amazing series. I bought the audiobook of the first two books to take with me on a massive road trip this summer and I was amazed at this riveting tale of airships and of friendships. What will happen as so many of the secrets that the characters hold come to light? Yes Mr. Westerfeld do tell.

Teaser Tuesday: The Fox Inheritance

The Fox Inheritance
by Mary Pearson
Released August 2011

Description:

Once there were three. Three friends who loved each other—Jenna, Locke, and Kara. And after a terrible accident destroyed their bodies, their three minds were kept alive, spinning in a digital netherworld. Even in that disembodied nightmare, they were still together. At least at first. When Jenna disappeared, Locke and Kara had to go on without her. Decades passed, and then centuries.
Two-hundred-and-sixty years later, they have been released at last. Given new, perfect bodies, Locke and Kara awaken to a world they know nothing about, where everyone they once knew and loved is long dead.
Everyone except Jenna Fox.

Teaser:
Now what? I've solved us right into a corner. And I'm starving.
ARC p.110

yes, right?1 What a tease.

I love this series. It reminds me of the Wired series by Robin Wasserman in a way, but with this great trio of characters. At first there was Jenna, and now the tale continues with Locke and Kara.

It is Monday, whatcha Reading? (2)

Solstice by P.J. Hoover was recently released and I just ordered my copy for my Kindle app. I have a massive car ride ahead of me later this week and I am loading my devices up for the night ride.
The more that I have been hearing about this book, the more I am anticipating reading it. The premise of the book is right up my I Heart Dystopian FanGirl alley and the characters are described so richly that I feel I am in their world too from the first chapters that I have read online.

So if you are looking for a fantastic e-read, snap Solstice while it is in sale. For $2.99, less than a mocha you can read something that is going to be utterly amazing.

BLURB:

My world is dying. Global warming will kill every living thing on Earth. I endure the endless summer, and do what I can to help. Until one day…

I open a box, and everything changes.

I discover a world of mythology parallel to my own. A world where gods battle for control, and monsters feed in the rivers of the Underworld. This dark world pulls me in and tells me I belong.

I meet Shayne, who keeps secrets from me. And Reese, who makes me feel alive. But I almost lose my best friend and my life. I don't want to leave this new world. But can I choose the life I want, without sacrificing the people I love?

SOLSTICE is P.J. Hoover’s debut YA novel and is the first front-list novel to be independently published by an Andrea Brown Literary Agency author.

Forever

I have to say it: I love the wolves. When Shiver was released it captivated me as a reader since it brought in a whole new perspective in so far as the saga of shifters go. Linger gave me tears and Forever gives me hope and apprehension.
I enjoyed the changing POV in the story and the characters sucked me into their existence. So I love the trailer that came out for the book by Maggie, it ttoally feels like the book to me, and can you see all of those lovely spines from the series around the world in the background! That is some extra special sauce here for me.

Forever by Maggie Stiefvater
Released July 12, 2011
by Sscholastic Inc.
400 pages Hardbound

If you love pre-orders then click the cover and you can pre-order it on BN.Com and for you all here is the new Trailer!

Friday Video

My husband said, " This is true. Put some action in your chick flicks and I may be more prone to watch them."
This was while I was cracking up and chocking on my coffee this morning.
Happy Friday everyone!

Blood Bound Covers Released

Blood Bound
Rachel Vincent
Expected publication: August 23rd 2011 by Mira

Rachel Vincent just put up the cover flats of her soon to be released novel Blood Bound and they look awesome.

Personally I heart the UK cover because the cover and the sprawling looks is fantastic and I love the art on the spine also. But what do you think? I know I cannot wait for this release. The Shifter series left me wanting more Vincent.

US COVER UK COVER

Here is the blurb:
Olivia Warren owes her friend Anne a favor. Anne needs someone found and brought to a very quick, private justice.

The catch? Olivia must work with Cam Caballero to complete this favor. The problem? Cam is Olivia's ex—the man prophesied to either kill her or die by her hand. It's a tense reunion, at best.

As Olivia and Cam chase their target through public streets, private lives, and a dangerous criminal underworld, everything they thought they knew comes into question. In the end, they can only be sure of three things…

"No one can be trusted.

Everyone’s lying.

And someone’s going to pay."

Nerdscape #1

Kevin Hearne the Author of the debut series Hounded which is released in May has a challenge up that I could not resist. I scavenged the house once the kids were asleep for some goodies (since forbid they find me defiling ponies and puppets). So here is my Nerdscape! After a long day hunting my little ponies, he prefers those ponies of highest authortity, he squashes them down later in his literary pancake and chomps down on some munchies like toaster pastries and HUB brewskies.
You too can join in the raucous at his site down in the pic.

Top 5 Sundays: Superpower Style

Top 5 on Sunday: Superpower Edition

While there are a lot of powers to choose from out there in the literary world here are my five choice and where is the mad scientist to provide them for me?!

1. Persuasion: Seriously, any mother of 1) children, 2) multiple children, 3) teen/tween children would love this power. Yes child you will make bed and feed bunny with no grief. Soccer equipment for game will be in car the night before, yes mom. Imagine a world of yes's.

2. Shifter: I would love the power to change form. Dig hole for garden = canine. Take out neighbors noisy parrots = eagle. Persuade neighbors cat to not pee on shoes = tiger.

3. Doppleganger: There are times when we all need an extra hand around the house to get things done. Replica cannot eat though, or all of my ice cream rations would be gone twice as fast.

4. Telekenesis: I want the ability to get things to me quicker or muti-task. Yes this is me holding a book with my mind powers and turning the page while I braid the daughter's hair for the night.

5. Teleportation: Taking 12 hours to drive to family is a snap with the powers of teleportation.
That book signing 16 hours away=snap; that tour event=snap; RT next year=snap. Teleportation/Timetravel=Babysitter? nope snap I can go back in time ;) = extra funds for books!

Ah that would be just super to have all of that ;)

Review: Enclave

Enclave (Razorland, #1)Enclave by Ann Aguirre

Hardcover, 259 pages
Published April 12th 2011
by Feiwel & Friends

Enclave is an amazing debut release by author Ann Aguirre! Once I opened the first page I was sucked into the underground world of future American, and people it did not look pretty. If sewer life and mystery meat was my future in the dark with emaciated people I might have to succumb to breeding since with no coffee I am basically a walking cranky zombie normally.
Our main character soon earns her name, Deuce, after her blood is splattered on an artifact which happens to be a playing card. She has trained all her youth and becomes a Huntress, a protector, a food provider for her community and earns a battered cubicle for her private space. Soon she is partnered with an outside that turns into a whole new adventure. Deuce's world expands and turn upside down and topside as this amazing story progresses and we begin to see the layers in this future landscape.
People, Enclave was amazing to read. The laundry piled up and there was a day of takeout as I was absorbed into the pages and read on like a maniac. Ann makes these smooth transitions of moments into the book that you just cannot want to put it down. There is enough action and fighting to keep a fast pace, and a smooth layer of developing character relationship to give you the warm fuzzy feeling until the next jolt of action.
I loved the characters and how they related and found out about the world. The world building was awesome. The back story was hinted at enough to make me beg for several more books because the author has something intriguing going on here in this dystopian and I did not have enough.
I cannot wait for the release of Razorland 2!
Thank you Ann for an amazing adventure of future peril. It was a sweet ride and now we need some more ;)

One Salt Sea by Seanan McGuire Cover

The cover for Seanan McGuire's 5th October Day book, One Salt Sea was just released today (note: it might be the cover, it may change before release). It is amazing. I love the covers in the whole series. They all have elements that tie into the books, and that is one of the things I love about a lot of book covers.
Tor.com released this on facebook with this blurb:

Cover Art: ONE SALT SEA by Seanan McGuire (September 2011 by DAW), the fifth October Daye book. Chris McGrath has done the precious cover, but I haven't confirmed this one as his.

Description: October “Toby” Daye is settling into her new role as Countess of Goldengreen. She's actually dating again, and she's taken on Quentin as her squire. So, of course, it's time for things to take a turn for the worse.

Someone has kidnapped the sons of the regent of the Undersea Duchy of Saltmist. To prevent a war between land and sea, Toby must find the missing boys and prove the Queen of the Mists was not behind their abduction. Toby's search will take her from the streets of San Francisco to the lands beneath the waves, and her deadline is firm: she must find the boys in three days' time, or all of the Mists will pay the price. But someone is determined to stop her — and whoever it is isn't playing by Oberon's Laws...
